Abstract

The progress of computer-assisted instruction (CAI) as an educational tool is being hampered by a number of trends in the CAI community. This article explores some of these trends and their effects on producers and educators. Several common-sense suggestions are provided which, if followed, will help minimize these effects, thus improving the quality of CAI while making materials development more efficient.
