Abstract

Widely available foreign language video is an invaluable resource for practicing listening comprehension and developing cultural awareness. Laser videodisc technology makes it possible to study foreign language video objectively in minute details. Objective, detailed study makes foreign language video accessible in the early stages of second language acquisition, and easy to integrate into any curriculum. Authentic documents should be made available on videodiscs so that foreign language video pedagogy can be developed and its resources fully exploited.
