Abstract

Some current topics related to CAI-EFL field in Japan are reviewed with emphasis on the achievements of the TELP (Tokai English Language Program)-CAI project, which developed a stand-alone microcomputer system in 1979 and another CAI-EFL system in 1984, along with abundant courseware.  The latest system, called TELP-CAI System III, is described.  It is composed of a personal computer keyboard, a color CRT, a cassette tape deck, a floppy disc drive unit, and a tailor-made interface unit to integrate all these devices. Including some of its features, like the menu-format authoring system, the discussion extends to on-going improvements for continued development of this system.
