Author Biographies

  • Jack Burston, Rochester Institute of Technology

    Jack Burston is a foreign language specialist. He is the Director of the Foreign Language Technology Center at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Jack has a particular interest in faculty development, software evaluation and language center design. He has been the Software Review Editor of the CALICO Journal since 1996. He has served on the CALICO Editorial Board since 1995, is a former member and chair of the CALICO Executive Board.

  • Dominique Lepoutre, National Technical Institute for the Deaf

    Dominique Lepoutre was born and raised in a bilingual/bicultural home. She is a native speaker of both French and English. Her secondary studies were completed in Paris, France, where she was awarded a Baccalaureate in Philosophy and Languages in 1969. She also holds a BS in Education from Western Connecticut State University in 1972 and an MS in Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY in 1983. In addition, she is certified by the American Sign Language Teachers Association at the highest (Professional) level.

  • Michel Lelievre

    Michel Lelievre grew up Deaf to Deaf parents using Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) as his mother tongue. He is also highly competent in French, English and ASL. Michael is currently teacher/coordinator in Deaf bilingual research projects (French-LSQ teaching) at Gadbois Deaf school in Montreal. His ambitions are to explore the effects of sign language education on children in relation to their behavioral and social skills.
