  • Howard Mandel, Journalist and Critic

    Howard Mandel is a senior contributor to Down Beat magazine, a columnist (‘Who What Jazz Where Why?’) for New York Press, the author of Future Jazz (Oxford University Press) and president/executive director of the Jazz Journalists Association, an international non-profit organization. He has listened attentively to jazz since 1964, and written professionally about it since 1974. Besides editing arts and culture publications, websites (www.Jazzhouse.org) and books, Mandel reports on jazz, blues, new and unusual musics for National Public Radio, and teaches at New York University.
