  • James Parsons, Missouri State University

    James Parsons is Professor of Music History at Missouri State University (Springfield, MO). He edited and contributed two essays to The Cambridge Companion to the Lied (Cambridge University Press, 2004). A frequent speaker at conferences in the United States, England, Ireland, and Germany, he has written on the music of Mozart, Johann Friedrich Reichardt, Beethoven, Schubert, and Hanns Eisler for such publications as Beethoven Forum, Brecht Yearbook/ Brecht-Jahrbuch, Early Music, the Journal of the American Musicological Society, Music Analysis, Music & Letters, and Nineteenth-Century Music Review. He currently is at work on a book-length study of twentieth-century German song.
