Nuclear Energy Protests: A Story from Southern Bohemia
Issued Date: 7 Mar 2007
Abstract
The governmental approval of the installation of nuclear power in southern Bohemia has raised a fiery protest from a group of women determined to halt the development. In particular, there has been no attempt to assess environmental impact or proper public consultation, or even proper documentation on issues of safety. The development is against the trend to dismantle nuclear power plants in other parts of the European community. The Mothers of Southern Bohemia are a group that acts for ecological issues, promoting awareness through visits to schools and other direct political activity, such as lobbying the European Parliament.
