Astrology in England in the Twenty-First Century

Bernard Eccles
Issued Date: 31 Oct 2007

Abstract

This paper examines the state of astrology in England at the opening of the
twenty-first century. It compares the present state of astrology to a previous
assessment published in 1986, and finds that astrology’s long-term
survival is not as assured as was assumed at that time. Criteria for the
continuance of astrology are suggested, and various options for the future
are examined, most of which fail to meet these criteria. In the end, the most
promising direction for astrology to take, supported by both external and
internal indications, appears to be in association with ecological and neopagan
movements.
