The case for Feminist intervention into the Music Industry

Abstract

This article considers the degree to which sexism permeates the music industry in Australia and what kinds of intervention are necessary in order to effect a change in the attitudes, opportunities and culture of the sector. This article will attempt to address these issues by analysing the project and operation of Australia's one organised feminist intervention into the industry, Australian Women's Contemporary Music Inc. (henceforth A WCM).
