Abstract

This paper reports on a recent development in Interactive Japanese: Understanding Written Japanese 11, with regard to a new facility whereby lexicographical information can be viewed by the user with full contextual information. This collocational information is available for any word or kanji in the 65 texts incorporated in UWJ II. This method of showing all the collocations of a word was implemented partly to address the users' needs for monitoring progress and for maintaining a sense of organization about their knowledge skill areas which have been identified as being a factor in succeeding with UWJ.
