Author Biography

  • Kheng K. Koay, National Sun Yat-sen University

    Kheng K. Koay holds a PhD in musicology from the University of Melbourne. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Musicology at National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan. Her research interests include critical theory analysis, aesthetics, contemporary popular music, and the compositions of Alfred Schnittke and Sofia Gubaidulina. Her current project focuses on recent developments of electroacoustic music. She has published articles on analyses of Gubaidulina’s and Schnittke’s String Quartets. These include “A Reflection of Moment Form in Gubaidulina’s String Quartet No. 3” Theoria 11 (2004), and “The ‘Cambiata’ Motive and Cyclic Form in Schnittke’s 4th String Quartet and 3rd Piano Sonata” Sun Yat-sen Journal of Humanities 24 (Fall 2007).
