Author Biography

  • Sarah Morris, UCLA
    Sarah Morris is a classical archaeologist specializing in the Orientalizing period and in the relations between Greece and the Near East in the Bronze and Iron Ages. She has worked on excavations in Israel, Turkey and Greece; her interests and published articles involve the study and interpretation of ceramics, architecture, religion and social history. She is the author of The Black and White Style: Athens and Aigina in the Orientalizing Period (Yale 1984) and Diadalos and the Origins of Greek Art (Princeton 1990). She has taught Archaeology and Philology at Yale University since 1981, and has recently joined the faculty of the Department of Classics at UCLA.
