Author Biography

  • Geoff Irwin, University of Auckland
    Geoff Irwin is Professor of Archaeology at the University of Auckland, NZ. He is a graduate of Auckland and took his PhD at the Australian National University. He has carried out fieldwork in Fiji, the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, New Zealand and is currently working in the Molluccas group in Indonesia. He grew up on the shores of Auckland harbour and has been messing about in boats in the western Pacific ever since. Part of his interest in ocean colonization comes from having sailed in traditional canoes on the coast of Papua. He is the author of 'The Prehistoric Exploration and Colonisation of the Pacific'.
