Author Biography

  • Roslyn M. Frank, University of Iowa

    Currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, the University of Iowa, Roslyn Frank has published extensively in the area of cognitive linguistics, ethnoastronomy and ethnomathematics as well as in European ethnography and folklore. Her particular area of concentration is Basque language and culture, most especially their belief that humans descended from bears, an archaic pattern of belief that has a large number of pan-European manifestations, many of which she has been investigating in an on-going series of publications.
