Author Biography

  • Flavia Lucia Rubini-Lean, University of Otago

    Flavia Rubini-Lean has been working for the University of Otago as a Teaching Fellow since 2003, teaching courses in Portuguese language and Brazilian popular culture. Prior to this, she taught English as a Second Language and Portuguese language in Brazil in a variety of schools including elementary, secondary and private language schools. Flavia Rubini-Lean graduated from College of Education in 1992 in Brazil and later received a BA in Portuguese and English Languages, and Brazilian and Portuguese Literature from the Universidade do Oeste Paulista and a Postgraduate Diploma in Linguistic from the University of Otago. She is currently working on her Masters dissertation on how the work of the composer, singer, poet and writer Chico Buarque reflects Brazilian cultural identity.
