Abstract

The interactions of Christianity and Islam have usually been regarded as strained, yet there are extraordinary examples of personal relationships that rise above the usual norm. Massignon and Shariati reflect one such case. This commentary briefly explores the enigmatic nature of their encounter based on my personal knowledge of Ali Shariati.
