6. Description Abstract Irish producers, most notably Jacknife Lee (REM, the Killers, Taylor Swift), now prepare global acts for the global marketplace. At the same time, the playlists of Irish radio stations are dominated by overseas acts. This media exposure is reflected in the Irish popular music charts, which again, are dominated by overseas acts.


This chapter examines the development of Irish recording studios, music media ownership, music education and the impact of the digital age on Irish music consumption.
