6. Description Abstract This qualitative study explores how four foreign language learners of Italian, with the use of a
language exchange app called Hellotalk, a means of multimodal communication, construct
different forms of imagination that is co-constructed. Findings demonstrate how learners,
temporarily and instantaneously imagined being and living in Italy as locals.
